BREAKING: Coldplay cancels tonight’s gig in Singapore
Band members upset by lacklustre fans last night
British band Coldplay announced that they will pull out from performing tonight’s concert after entertaining some 50 000 Singaporeans at the National Stadium last night, citing their disappointment over the lacklustre concert-goers in Singapore who think Mylo Xyloto is Nestlé’s new line of chocolate-flavoured malt drinks.
Lead singer of the rock sensation Chris Martin reportedly felt very disheartened by the unresponsive crowd that attended the performance on Friday night. Speaking to The Bullet, he lamented that Singaporean fans only seem to know a couple of songs. Martin, 40, remarked, “I think we confused many in the audience when we attempted a medley of ‘Clocks’ and ‘Midnight’, and people didn’t know how to sing along because they have never heard it in a club before.” “They seemed to be more interested in taking shaky snapchats at the concert rather than enjoying any of our masterpieces,” he added.
The band managed to get the teenagers in the crowd roaring by playing ‘Something Just Like This’ near the end of the gig that turned the National Stadium into Zouk.
However, the last straw for Martin was after the concert, when one of the fans approached him to take a selfie, and commented that he looked like “Gwyneth Paltrow’s ex-husband”.
Not wanting to be left out, drummer Will Champion was crestfallen that no one recognised him when he rode the MRT earlier in the day. “I can’t believe that no one realised who I was, despite the crowd in the train. It really put me In My Place.”
Live Nation Lushington stated that they will not be refunding any of the tickets for the second night. Instead, they will invite any local bands willing to take the stage. A spokesperson from Live Nation Lushington added, “I think that this will be a good opportunity for local talent such as The Sam Willows or Shigga Shay to have a sell-out crowd for once. They can choose to use the leftover pyrotechnics, or just save it for the National Day Parade this year.”
Happy April Fool’s Day from here at The Bullet! Enjoy the concert, and for crying out loud, keep your phones and just enjoy the music.
