University Applicants Leaning Towards Computing Instead of Law
More Mark Zuckerberg- , Less Harvey Specter-Wannabes in Singapore
Who would’ve thought being a lawyer would go out of style?
The advent of big data and the ensuing prospects ($$$$$) have led to an influx of university applicants in computing-related fields. Concurrently, a dip in the number of applicants who listed Law as first choice has also been observed.
Of course, it’s no surprise that out in the real world, graduates from informations systems and computer sciences are seeing pay jumps of up to 12.7% and 8.1% from 2015 respectively, reaching a monthly median salary of S$4,000.
Apart from higher earnings, the spike in interest towards computing-related degrees could also have been attributed to movies like The Social Network a.k.a the origins story of how Mark Zuckerberg made a shit ton of money. Oh, so it really is about the money after all.
Naturally, we here at The Bullet are mentally kicking ourselves in the butt for having chosen neither law nor computing as a graduate degree (not that we would’ve gotten in anyway).
Nonetheless, if you can’t be one, you can always date one.
